'Cities in Motion' Now (was) Accepting Closed Beta Sign-upsĪs each city develops and grows the player must continue to meet the ever changing transport needs of its commuters, while at the same time ensuring it remains as profitable as possible.įeaturing an in-depth campaign mode made up of 12 scenarios along with an open ended sandbox mode, an advanced map editor that allows players to create their own cities, plus much more, Cities in Motion will challenge players to create the perfect public transport system that has no cancellations, no delays and where the passengers are always happy! It lacks the freeform creation of TTD, but Traffic Giant is incredibly deep when it comes to its strengths. It sounds hideously boring, especially if someone is just watching you set up bus routes and adjusting pricing and stop locations.but if you dig TTD, you'd immediately see the tinkerer's delight. You deal with peak hour, the wants and needs of different groups within society - prompt access to places of employment (and this is all intertwined with socio-economic groups), to leisure and lifestyle facilities, to commercial districts and dealing with things like major sporting events and the strain such events have on public transport and inner city traffic. It's a game of applying and weaving public transport infrastructure into different metropolises, and it's a lot more exciting than it sounds. It's actually a really poignant little game, considering we're entering the age of the "sustainability" buzzword and cities buckle under the pressure of population growth. Note that Traffic Giant isn't about establishing or reworking existing facilities, more about keeping socio-economic groups "on the move".
